Biographies of Panelists
Sander Barens,
CCO, Expereo
After joining Expereo 11 years ago and setting up the first international Expereo office in Singapore back in 2008, Sander now works out of the HQ in Amsterdam as the Chief Commercial Officer.
His team is spread out globally across 5 offices. Before joining Expereo Sander worked out of Australia for BT Global Services and Infonet Services Corp. His telecom career started in 1997 with Unisource Business Services and AT&T Unisource in Europe. Nice to know fact: before Sander went into telecom he was a helicopter pilot.
Peter van Burgel, CEO, AMS-IX
With a passion for developing teams and individuals I joined AMS-IX in February 2018 to help accelerate the execution of the strategy and quickly felt at home with a team of professionals proudly serving the Internet community as one of the leading Internet Exchanges. The world around us is changing at an ever increasing pace - 'the only constant is change' – and the Internet is at the heart of it all.
At AMS-IX we are working hard to embrace the high pace of technology developments to continuously create value for our members and customers while keeping a keen eye on the human element of change. Personally, I am interested in how technology can help solve issues and problems, both in business and real life and am constantly looking for ways to bridge the inevitable gap between the tech team and the ultimate users of the technology.
Mahesh Jaishankar, CEO, Arc Solutions
Mahesh is CEO of Arc Solutions, a joint venture between EITC (du) and Batelco. He was previously the Vice President - International Connectivity and Infrastructure at du, the integrated telecom service provider in the UAE, where he led the development of du’s global Infrastructure which includes investments in Submarine Cables and datacenters worldwide.
He was also instrumental and led the development of datamena - the carrier neutral ICT hub in UAE. Mahesh has over 20 years of experience in the Telecom & IT industry in the Middle East and India, where he has successfully led the Strategy, Business development, sales & marketing and product management of a wide range of telecom products and services.
Mahesh holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communications and an MBA in Information Technology from University of Leicester.
Johan Malmberg, Head of IT & Engineering,

Artur Ostrowski,

Artur has many years of general management and sales experience in an international environment predominantly within the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining Enxoo, Artur worked at T-mobile as a Chief Commercial Officer responsible for the B2B market in Poland, and before that, held different positions at GTS Central Europe incl. Senior Vice President of Infrastructure Services, Head of Marketing and Head of International Wholesale.
Between 2000 and 2009, Artur spent 10 years at TeliaSonera International Carrier where he was managing regional operations for West Europe, Central & Eastern Europe as well as Asia.In his career, Artur played instrumental roles in conducting a transformation and restructuring telecommunication operations in multiple countries and regions.
Artur has also driven a number of M&A activities successfully acquiring and integrating infrastructure operators in various markets.
Artur holds a master's degree in Management from Warsaw University and later obtained an Executive MBA from Warsaw University of Technology. Artur attended a number of executive programs including those at Stanford University, IMD and London Business School.
Matthew Whalley, Director,Ilex Content Strategies
Matthew Whalley is director and co-founder of Ilex Content Strategies, a global B2B marketing & communications agency.
Ilex Content Strategies enables B2B technology and telecom companies to communicate innovation, create momentum and grow.
Before founding Ilex, Matthew was European Technology Content Director at Edelman, the world’s largest Public Relations agency, and Editor of Capacity magazine.
